About Alpha Bank Cyprus

Alpha Bank has 15 branches across Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Famagusta, alongside online and mobile banking through Alpha 360.

It became the third-largest bank in Cyprus in 2025 after taking over most of AstroBank's banking business. Today, it offers personal, business and international banking services.

If you're considering Alpha Bank for your banking needs, personal customers can choose from everyday and savings accounts, cards, term deposits, home loans and personal loans. Businesses have access to business accounts, cards, overdrafts, financing and trade services, while international customers can find foreign-currency accounts and options aimed at non-residents and international businesses.

Alpha Bank Cyprus Products and Services

Alpha Bank's range of products in Cyprus covers most everyday personal and business banking needs.

Accounts and Deposits

Alpha Bank offers personal accounts for everyday banking and saving, with options ranging from easy-access accounts to notice and fixed-term deposits. You can hold deposits in euros or selected foreign currencies, and there are also savings options for children.

Available products include:

  • Alpha 100
  • Savings Account
  • Notice Accounts
  • Alpha Term Deposits
  • Alpha Flexibility
  • Alpha Online Term Deposit
  • Alpha Flexibility Plus
  • Alpha Minor - Save
  • Foreign Currency Accounts

You can access your money freely with some accounts, while others require advance notice or keep your deposit in place for a fixed term. Depending on the account, you may also get a debit card, online access or the option to add an overdraft.

Business Banking

Alpha Bank offers business banking for smaller companies, larger businesses and international organisations. You can use it for everyday transactions, payroll, deposits, cards and borrowing, with additional services available for companies that work across borders.

Business products include:

  • Alpha 500 business account
  • Alpha Payroll
  • Savings and notice accounts
  • Fixed deposits
  • Foreign-currency accounts
  • Business debit and credit cards
  • Development, equipment and commercial-property loans
  • Overdraft facilities

Depending on what your business needs, you can keep day-to-day banking fairly simple or add financing, payroll and international services. The available accounts, lending options and requirements can differ by business type and purpose.

Cards

Alpha Bank offers debit and credit cards for personal and business customers.

Available cards include:

  • Enter Mastercard
  • Business Mastercard
  • Gold cards
  • Cashback Mastercard
  • Platinum Mastercard
  • World Elite
  • World Business

What you get depends on the card. Features can include contactless payments, digital-wallet support, card controls in Alpha 360 Mobile, cashback and travel benefits. Business cards can also come with different spending limits for employees or company executives.

Card fees are not the same across the range. Annual charges and foreign-currency transaction fees vary by card, so check the costs attached to the one you plan to use.

Loans

Alpha Bank offers several ways to borrow for personal expenses, from buying a home or car to covering education costs. You can also apply for an overdraft if you want access to additional funds through your account.

Personal borrowing options include:

  • Alpha Residence housing loan
  • Alpha Personal Loan
  • Alpha Car
  • Alpha Education Loan
  • Overdraft facilities

Business customers can apply for development and equipment loans, commercial-property finance and overdrafts. How much you can borrow, the rate you receive and whether you need to provide security will depend on the application and the bank's credit assessment.

Alpha 360 Digital Banking

Alpha 360 is available through both web and mobile banking. You can use it to check your accounts and cards, make transfers, pay bills, manage standing orders and view electronic statements.

The mobile app also gives you more control over your cards. You can:

  • Activate a card
  • Lock or unlock it
  • View a PIN reminder
  • Change daily limits
  • Control where the card can be used

You can make SEPA and SWIFT payments through Alpha 360, while business customers can also upload payroll and other bulk-payment files.

International Banking and Trade Services

Alpha Bank also works with non-residents, international businesses, and customers who regularly send or receive money across borders. You can open foreign-currency deposit accounts and access dedicated international banking services.

Trade and international payment services include:

  • Documentary letters of credit
  • Letters of guarantee
  • Export-document discounting
  • Bills for collection
  • Invoice discounting
  • International remittances

Investments and Wealth

Alpha Bank gives personal customers access to mutual funds, alongside private-banking and wealth-management services for customers who want help managing larger or more complex investments. The bank also provides services for institutional clients.

These products work differently from bank deposits, and their value can rise or fall. Before investing, check how the product works, what fees apply and how much risk is involved.

Insurance

You can get several types of insurance through Alpha Bank, including life, health, travel, home, personal belongings, borrower and business cover. Some policies are provided in cooperation with external insurers, so the bank is not necessarily the company underwriting the cover.

Pros and cons

Alpha Bank Cyprus: Pros and Cons

Alpha Bank offers good branch access and a selection of digital banking, accounts, cards and other financial services. The main drawbacks are ongoing account fees, limited eligibility for online account opening, and relatively low interest on standard everyday and savings accounts.

  • Foreign-currency accounts and dedicated international banking services are available for non-residents and international businesses.

Cons

  • Alpha Bank's call centre is only open Monday to Friday, from 07:45 to 17:00, so routine phone support is not available evenings or weekends.

How to Open an Alpha Bank Cyprus Account

You can apply for an Alpha 100 account through Alpha Easy 2 Open online if you are over 18, a European citizen, and permanently resident in Cyprus.

Have your ID or passport ready, along with proof of address from the last six months and proof of income from the last three months. Alpha Bank estimates one to two business days to process the application. That is followed by a meeting with the bank to sign the documents.

Business and international accounts follow a different process. You will need to contact the bank and provide documents based on your company, residency, income, and intended account activity.
