Ancoria Bank Cyprus

Ancoria Bank is a digital-first bank and one of the newest additions to Cyprus banking. It was the first bank in Cyprus to offer remote account opening. Since then, it has worked with personal and business customers, and today offers everything from current and savings accounts to fixed deposits, Visa debit cards, housing loans, business finance and trade services.

Bank features

  • Personal and business banking
  • myAncoria web and mobile banking
  • EUR, GBP and USD current accounts
  • 24/7 instant euro transfers

Overview of Ancoria Bank in Cyprus

Ancoria Bank opened for business in Cyprus in 2016, with digital banking front and centre from the start. myAncoria, its web and mobile banking platform, had plenty of everyday banking options that would otherwise require a call or branch visit.

Through myAncoria, you can check accounts, make payments, transfer money, manage cards, track spending and open a Fixed Term Deposit. Existing customers can also apply for selected loans and overdrafts and sign approved agreements electronically. If you have both personal and business accounts, you can switch between them without logging in again.

Ancoria also has three Banking Centres in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca. You can go there to deposit or withdraw cash, discuss borrowing, open accounts that are not available online, or get help with business banking.

You can also use Ancoria for current and savings accounts, Visa debit cards, fixed deposits, mortgages, personal loans, business finance and trade services.

Products and services

Ancoria Bank Products and Services

Although Ancoria Bank’s offering is smaller than some of the larger Cyprus banks, it covers most day-to-day personal and business banking needs. This includes accounts, debit cards, savings products, loans and trade services.

Accounts and Savings

Ancoria has accounts for everyday banking, easy-access savings, and for money you can leave in place for a fixed period. The standard Current Account can be held in EUR, GBP or USD, while students and children have their own account options.

Available products include:

  • Current Account
  • Student Current Account
  • General Savings Account
  • Children’s Savings Account
  • Personal Fixed Term Deposit Account
  • Business Fixed Term Deposit Account

The General Savings Account has no minimum opening deposit. Fixed Term Deposits start from €500, run for three to 24 months, and can be opened through myAncoria, although early withdrawal comes with a charge.

Business Banking

Ancoria works with companies and self-employed customers, and their Business Current Account covers all areas of regular company banking. You can receive payments, run payroll, pay bills and suppliers, and set up standing orders or direct debits.

Business products include:

  • Business Current Account
  • myBusiness Visa Debit Card
  • Business Fixed Term Deposit Account
  • Business Loan
  • Business Mortgage
  • Full Cash Collateral Loan
  • New Car Loan
  • Used Car Loan
  • Trade services

The account can also include a company chequebook, debit card and overdraft. Overdraft limits and other credit facilities are approved separately based on the company’s finances and borrowing needs.

Debit Cards

Ancoria issues three Visa debit cards, depending on whether you are a student, personal customer or business customer. All three support contactless payments and can be managed through myAncoria app. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also supported.

Available cards include:

  • myFirst for students aged 17+
  • myPersonal for individual customers
  • myBusiness for companies and legal entities

myPersonal and myBusiness include ten free withdrawals each month from other banks’ Visa ATMs in Cyprus.

Personal Loans

You can borrow for a home, education, car, or another personal expense. Ancoria also offers loans for selected energy-saving home improvements and lower-emission vehicles.

Personal borrowing options include:

  • First Residence Loan
  • Housing Loan Transfer
  • Holiday Home Loan
  • Investment Home Loan
  • Personal Loan
  • Student Loan
  • Full Cash Collateral Loan
  • New Car Loan
  • Used Car Loan
  • Eco Home Improvement Loan
  • Eco Electric Car Loan
  • Eco Hybrid Car Loan
  • myLo@n
  • myOverdr@ft

You can apply for myLo@n and myOverdr@ft through myAncoria and sign the agreement electronically, if approved. For the other loan products, the interest structure and repayment terms vary by product, with fixed or variable rates available depending on what you apply for.

Business Loans and Trade Services

If your company needs financing, Ancoria has separate options for property, vehicles, working capital, and general business expenses. It also handles trade documents and guarantees for companies buying or selling locally or abroad.

Available business finance and trade services include:

  • Business Loan
  • Business Mortgage
  • Full Cash Collateral Loan
  • New Car Loan
  • Used Car Loan
  • Overdraft facilities
  • Letters of credit
  • Bills for collection
  • Letters of guarantee

The amount you can borrow, the interest rate, and any security requirements are decided as part of the application. For trade transactions, it can issue or advise on guarantees and letters of credit and handle import and export documents.

Payments

Ancoria supports local and international transfers, instant euro payments, recurring payments and day-to-day bills. Business customers can also use the same payment system for payroll and supplier payments.

Available payment services include:

  • Transfers between Ancoria accounts
  • Standard SEPA transfers
  • SEPA Instant payments
  • SWIFT transfers
  • Standing orders
  • Direct debits
  • Payroll payments
  • Bill payments

Transfers between your own Ancoria accounts are free, and digital payments generally cost less than sending the same transaction through a Banking Centre.

Pros and cons

Ancoria Bank Pros and Cons

Ancoria has three city banking centres and plenty of online services. It offers personal accounts, savings products and loans, but its physical network and online-opening eligibility are limited.

Pros

  • Eligible customers can open their first account through the myAncoria app, sign the documents electronically and receive their debit card by post.
  • myAncoria is available through both web and mobile banking and supports SEPA Instant transfers 24/7, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Personal loans and overdrafts can be applied for, approved and signed entirely through myAncoria without visiting a banking centre.
  • Ancoria offers personal and business banking, with housing and personal lending on the retail side and business lending and trade services for companies.
  • Customers can arrange video appointments with bank staff, and electronic document signing is used for selected services instead of requiring paperwork at a branch.
  • Ancoria Visa debit cards support Apple Pay and Google Pay, while cards can be activated, managed or reported lost through myAncoria.
  • Business customers have access to trade services including letters of credit, bills for collection and bank guarantees, rather than only accounts and standard business loans.

Cons

  • Ancoria has only three banking centres, in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca, with no locations in Paphos or Famagusta.
  • App-based account opening is limited to individuals aged 17 or over who both live in Cyprus and have Cypriot citizenship.
  • Digital onboarding is limited beyond a first personal current account. Business current and fixed-term deposit accounts, joint accounts and savings accounts require a banking-centre visit.
  • Ancoria does not have its own ATM network, so customers rely on other banks’ ATMs for cash withdrawals.
  • Banking centres and regular customer service operate only on weekdays. Customer service closes at 17:00 Monday to Thursday and 14:00 on Friday.
  • Fully digital lending is limited to myLo@n and myOverdr@ft. Housing and business loans use an assisted application process through phone, video or banking-centre contact.
  • Ancoria does not currently list private banking, wealth management or investment services among its customer products, so its service range is narrower than that of Cyprus banks with dedicated wealth divisions.

Ancoria Bank Current Account

The Ancoria Bank Current Account is for everyday banking, for everything from getting paid to making transfers and withdrawing cash. You can keep the account in EUR, GBP or USD and manage it through myAncoria.

You can add a myPersonal Visa Debit Card, standing orders and direct debits. Chequebooks and overdrafts are available too, but those may require a separate application and a visit to a Banking Centre.

Ancoria Bank General Savings Account

The General Savings Account is a euro savings account with no minimum opening deposit and access to your money when you need it. You can manage it through myAncoria and move money in or out without committing it for a fixed term.

The account currently pays 0.05% interest on balances up to €50,000. Ancoria calculates interest using the lowest balance you hold during the month, so taking money out can reduce what you earn.

Payment Security

Ancoria uses Verification of Payee for SEPA and SEPA Instant transfers made through myAncoria and internet banking. Before you approve the payment, the bank checks whether the recipient name matches the IBAN you entered.

You will see whether the details are a full match, a close match, no match, or could not be checked. You can continue after a warning, but it gives you a chance to catch a typo or suspicious payment before sending the money.

The check applies to SEPA transfers, not SWIFT payments.

Safety

Is Ancoria Bank Safe?

Yes. Ancoria is a licensed Cyprus bank, and the Central Bank of Cyprus lists it as a local authorised credit institution.

Eligible deposits are protected up to €100,000 per depositor through the Cyprus Deposit Guarantee Scheme. The limit applies across all the money you hold with Ancoria, rather than separately to each account. On a joint account, each eligible account holder gets their own €100,000 limit. If the bank fails, the scheme provides for repayment within seven working days.

Ancoria also publishes audited financial statements each year, with its latest published results covering 2025.

Support

Getting Help From Ancoria Bank

Ancoria puts more emphasis on direct contact than its small branch network might suggest. It has a Customer Service line for calls from Cyprus and abroad, email support, and a callback form on its website. For selected business accounts, loans and trade services, you can also book a phone or video appointment and deal with the bank remotely.

If your card is lost or stolen, Ancoria has a separate 24/7 reporting line, and you can also block or report the card through myAncoria. There is a formal complaints process too, with the option to take an unresolved complaint to Cyprus’s Consumer Protection Service.
